Traditional model making
Handcrafted models and prototypes built to exacting standards — by skilled model makers with decades of experience.
WHAT IT IS
Craftsmanship and precision, built into every model
At PD Models, traditional model making skills run through everything we do. We build and modify models by hand — and with every 3D printed or vacuum cast part we produce, skilled hand finishing is part of the process. We work closely with designers to help them realize their vision, offering a level of craft and personal attention that online bureau simply can't match. From presentation models to appearance prototypes, every piece leaves our workshop finished to exhibition standard.

We build by hand
Our model makers craft your model using traditional techniques, machining, and finishing skills developed over decades.

IS THIS THE RIGHT PROCESS FOR YOU?
✔ Good fit if…
✔ You need a high-quality presentation or appearance model
✔ Your design requires hand finishing or complex detailing
✔ You need a one-off model at any scale
✔ Standard processes can't achieve the finish you need
✖ Consider alternatives if…
✖ You need multiple identical parts — consider vacuum casting
✖ Speed is the priority — consider 3D printing
✖ Your project is purely functional with no finish requirement
MATERIALS AND FINISHES
Every model is different, so we work with whatever material best suits the brief — foams, woods, resins, metals, acrylics and more — combined with hand-finishing to get the look, weight, and feel exactly right.
If you've got a specific material or finish in mind, get in touch, and we'll talk through the best way to achieve it.
