Traditionally here at PD Models we are a prototyping company, using vacuum casting to provide as close to a real product as we can so that designers can more accurately evaluate their designs.
However, we have found that in some cases vacuum casting can also be the preferred method of manufacture. Injection moulding tools can be extremely expensive. In cases where the production numbers are quite low vacuum casting can provide a cost effective alternative to prohibitively expensive injection moulding tools.
Here at PD Models we have the expertise and experience to be able to provide a short run production service. We have a number of clients that currently take advantage of this, using our vacuum casting service to provide repeat orders of plastic parts that get used as finished products.
Vacuum casting is an extremely versatile process. Many different resins can be used to mimic pretty much any injection moulding material, and all can be pigmented to any colour. Vacuum casting is accurate and the silicone rubber tools will pick up all of the surface detail of a master model so you can be confident that the final castings are of a standard and quality that you would not think twice about using for final manufacture.
